COVID-19 is very serious and we do not know what lays in store for us in the coming weeks and months. We are doing the right things and following best practices from The Public Health Agency of Canada and guidance from our college to do our part in flattening the curve.
December 7, 2020 Think Feet update during COVID-19 pandemic. It has been a while since I have posted an update about this office. We are continuing to be open to assist our clients. Ed Moloy and Brendan Dunn our chiropodists are back in the office. Our doors remain locked except for clients who have appointments. You are required to wait in your car until your appointment then we will wave you in. Our waiting room can not be used and only one client at a time can enter the office. All our staff even stay distanced from each other to help protect each other in the office. Clients are screened prior to appointments and again when they arrive at the office. We are concerned that everyone stays safe and healthy. This community means a lot to all of us and we want to see everyone stay well. With the precautions we have in place this office is working within our provincial guidelines and we will continue to make changes to stay current with what is occurring. If you need assistance with your foot health and care we are here for you. If you need custom made orthotics you will need to book an assessment appointment into January 2021. The labs have informed us that with the escalated parcel shipping this year they could not guarantee that orthotics would arrive before year end if they were not ordered before December 7, 2020. With chiropody, we really can not do virtual care we need to see clients to care for them. With that in mind if you have an issue with your feet and you would like to know whether you should make an appointment call the office and explain to our staff what is happening. We will follow up on the phone to discuss what your options are. Take care everyone. From our staff to you and your families we are thinking of you during this month and the holiday season. Sheilagh Rose
IMPORTANT UPDATE JUNE 3 2020
Think Feet Family Foot Clinic is happy to announce we are now open for foot care appointments. We have worked hard to provide the safest environment possible strictly following all of the health and safety protocols required by our governing body and those recommended by government health officials regarding COVID19. That being said there are obviously changes in our policies and procedures. We appreciate your support and patience as we adjust to the changes and to this new normal.
Treatments are available by appointment only. Our hours are Monday thru Thursday~ 9am to 5pm and Friday ~9am to 2pm. Please call ouroffice at705 329 0908 to book an appointment or email us at wecare@thinkfeet.ca We have extended the time between client encounters to maintain physical distancing in our office and this time is also used to disinfect the office areas before another client is allowed in the office. Please find below the procedures for appointments.
1. Prior to your appointment you will be asked on the phone if you have been exposed to COVID19 and or if you have any symptoms that require monitoring. During this discussion on the phone you will be advised that you are required to wear a personal mask that covers your nose and mouth for the ENTIRE time you are in our clinic. 2. When you arrive at the office the door will be locked, you are to wait in your car until the staff unlock the door and allow you to come in. As it is important to limit numbers in the office, if you need to bring an attendant/ family member with you, then you will both be screened on entry and your companion will be required to wear a mask as well. 3. Please read the posted screening on the door before entering. Your temperature will be taken when you enter the clinic and you will be screened again by a staff member. If you have a temperature and/or are not feeling well you will be asked to leave our office until you have had an assessment regarding the cause. (Information will be provided on contacts to reach out to regarding testing if required) 4. If you pass screening you are required to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands. We do not recommend you wear gloves in our clinic and you will be asked to remove them if you have them on so that you can clean your hands. 5. Next you will be asked to pay for your treatment and directly after this you will be taken in to see the Chiropodist for care. Our goal is as always to reduce any pain and treat your foot care needs. 6. When leaving the clinic, you will be asked to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands before exiting.
UPDATE MAY 12 2020
Think Feet Family Foot Clinic is open only for urgent care at this time. Our concern continues to be the safety and health of our community. At present our regulatory body the College of Chiropodists of Ontario has also stated: They are strongly recommendingnot to treat clients in nursing homes, long term care facilities or in a client’s home unless it is urgent to do so. These are all sites that there is concern that the risk of spread of the COVID 19 is higher and we need to protect our elderly and more vulnerable members of our community by staying at a distance to flattening the curve of this virus. For over 5 weeks this office has been making modifications to improve our ability to care for clients in our office. If you require URGENT care contact our office to discuss if you can benefit from this assistance.
The following are guidelines for care going forward that our office is initiating:
Prior to your appointment you will be screened as to whether urgent care is required. You will be asked on the phone if your have been exposed to COVID 19 and or if you have any symptoms that require monitoring. Our concern is to reduce risk to this community.
During this discussion on the phone you will be advised that you are required to wear a personal mask that covers your nose and mouth for the ENTIRE time you are in our office.
When you arrive at the office the door will be locked you are to wait in your car until the staff unlock the door to allow you to come in it is important to limit numbers in the office. If you need to bring a family member in the office then you both will be screened on entry.
Please read posted screening on the door before entering.
Your temperature will be taken when you enter this office and you will be screened again by a staff member. If you have a temperature and /or are not feeling well you will be asked to leave our office until you have had an assessment regarding the cause. (Information will be provided on contacts to reach out to regarding testing if required.)
If you pass screening you are required to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands. We do not recommend you wear gloves in our office and you will be asked to remove them if you have them on so that you can clean your hands.
Next you will be asked to pay for your treatment and directly after this you will be taken in to see the chiropodist for care. Our goal is to reduce your pain and treat your urgent care needs so that you can avoid going to the hospital at this time. In some cases that requires further discussion with your family physician to work on a care plan to help you further.
When leaving the clinic, you will be asked to use hand sanitizer or wash your hand before exiting.
We have extended the time between client encounters to maintain physical distancing in our office and this time is also used to disinfect the office areas before another client is allowed in the office. None of us know how long we will need to continue these protocols. Our office was always a rather social area where people would sit and visit with others in our waiting area; we now have to change our practices to help keep you and ourselves safe. No one wants to get sick. This office is open depending on URGENT need Monday to Friday. By APPOINTMENT only. At this time, we have been told that we can not fit anyone with their custom-made orthotics until the risk has been reduced. We realize this is an inconvenience but at this time custom made orthotics are not deemed as urgent care. If you have concerns and would like to discuss them please feel free to call the office and we will answer your questions in a timely manner. You can call 705-329-0908 or email at wecare@thinkfeet.ca
Take care everyone, Sheilagh Rose and the Staff at Think Feet
April 2 2020 To: all our valued clients and their contacts for care: Re: Think Feet is closed due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
I would like to state first that our main concern is your health and safety during this difficult time. Think Feet was closed as of March 17, 2019 and at present will remain closed till end of April 2020 or later. During this time, I am taking calls from 9-12 noon daily Monday to Friday to answer your questions regarding your foot health and upcoming appointments. When this office is open again, appointments will be addressed with urgent cases first. At present I am working on improving the design of our office to be compliant with restrictions for care going forward. This event is affecting all of us and our families and therefore social distancing and isolation is important. Until further notice I am not doing home visits or facility visits. This time is being used to set up our office so that we will be as safe as possible to perform treatments and care for your needs.
